Toledo police officer arrested, charged with domestic violence
TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo police officer was arrested and charged with domestic violence after an incident in east Toledo Saturday evening. According to a Toledo police report, a TPD crew responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Woodmore Street at approximately 6 p.m. Police said they determined a Toledo police officer, Thomas Overman, had assaulted an adult family member. According to a court document, Overman had pushed the victim into a kitchen cabinet during an argument, causing injury to the victim's left arm.
Fatal off-road crash occurs in Lenawee County
ADRIAN — An off-road vehicle crash Saturday night in Lenawee County resulted in a fatality, according to a Michigan State Police. Evidence at the 7464 Scott Highway scene in Blissfield Township led investigators to believe the driver lost control of the Honda side-by-side in a field, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times. The unnamed 33-year-old man was transported to ProMedica Hickman Hospital “where he was pronounced dead from his injuries,” authorities said. An unnamed passenger sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the same hospital.
TPD Chief responds to video of officers releasing K-9 on man during traffic stop
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Several Toledo police officers are under scrutiny following TPD bodycam video showing officers releasing a K-9 on a man during a traffic stop. Earlier this month, police pulled over 38-year-old Brandon Upchurch after a license plate reader mistakenly flagged his vehicle as stolen. Officers released the K-9 on him after Upchurch asked repeatedly why they pulled him over.
Police: Missing central Toledo person found
TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: Talaya Harwell has been found, Toledo police said. Police are searching for a person missing out of central Toledo. According to a social media post from the Toledo Police Department, 22-year-old Talaya Harwell is missing. Harwell is missing out of the 2200 block of Kent Street, police said.
Sylvania Township fire chief, trustees reach agreement; fire levy to be on ballot in November
Sylvania Township’s fire chief, who was placed on leave Feb. 12, won’t return to work and will officially retire next year, according to an agreement approved Monday by the township’s Board of Trustees. Chief Michael Ramm will remain on paid administrative leave until the close of business Tuesday and retire from his position effective Feb. 28, 2025. Effective May 1, the township will allow him to convert 1,632 hours of accrued sick leave to paid time off and use the sick leave hours and 112 holiday hours through his retirement date. Chief Ramm will have 134.26 sick hours, 240 vacation hours, 24 personal hours, and eight bonus hours remaining. The township will pay $23,433.08 for the hours upon his retirement.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo woman pleaded guilty Friday in a 2022 double murder in central Toledo. According to court documents, Camryn Chase, 23, withdrew her previous plea of not guilty and entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge of murder in the shooting deaths of 28-year-old Malinda Moore and 36-year-old Brent Roscoe.
