    Dale’s Bar & Grill , 322 Conant, Maumee, inspected Feb. 15. Three containers of chili and container of aoli were held past their expiration dates.

    Gordon Food Service , 1450 Holland, Maumee, inspected Feb. 15. A slippery, yellowish-orange substance was dumped in the popcorn station hand-washing sink. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer at the deli island was too weak.

    Village Idiot , 309 Conant, Maumee, inspected Feb. 21. A container of pulled pork in the reach-in cooler had no date mark. The downstairs ice machine and bar ice bins lacked air gaps in the drain plumbing to prevent sewage backflow.

    Timbers Bowling Lanes , 1246 Conant, Maumee, inspected Feb. 22. The can opener’s blade was dirty with buildup. Open bags of lettuce and shredded mozzarella cheese lacked date marks. The ice machine and ice bins lacked air gaps in the drain plumbing to prevent sewage backflow.

    Sidelines , 1430 Holland, Maumee, inspected Feb. 20. The ice machine closest to the back door had black buildup on its slide and ceiling. The can opener blade was dirty with food debris. Food warmers were used improperly to reheat food, including one that was not even turned on. Chili and preportioned bags of pasta were held after expiration. The bar ice bin’s drain plumbing lacked an air gap to prevent sewage backflow.

    Maumee Elks , 137 W. Wayne, Maumee, inspected Feb. 26. The person-in-charge did not ensure employees are properly trained in food safety. Employees are not verifiably informed of their duty to report illnesses relevant to food safety. A container of raw chicken was stored on the same pan as slaw mix and French dressing. Raw chicken was stored incorrectly above raw ground beef and a bulk piece of corned beef. The make table cutting board had mold on it. Chlorine sanitizer dispensed by the bar ware-washing machine was too weak. Multiple sauces in the walk-in cooler had expired. Very few food items had required date marks. The kitchen prep sink’s drain air gap was inadequate and drain plumbing for the ice machine outside the kitchen had no air gap to prevent sewage backflow.

    Family Dollar , 245 Golden Gate Plaza, Maumee, inspected March 4. Eleven containers of expired baby food were offered for sale.

    Sam’s Diner , 578 W. Dussel, Maumee, inspected March 5. Time/​temperature controlled pies and cheesecakes in the dessert case lacked date marks. Foods pulled from the freezer for thawing were not properly date-marked to hold under refrigeration. Biscuits were stored in to-go bags that were not food grade.

    Maumee Pointe , 1050 Medical Center Parkway, Maumee, inspected March 5. Build up on the interior of the ice machine.

    Courtyard By Marriott , 415 W. Dussel, Maumee, inspected March 5. Black and pink build up on the interior ice chute. Ware washing machine unable to reach the proper temperatures for sanitizing dishes and utensils. Food in the make table holding at unsafe temperature.

    TVC Volleyball Tournament , 2901 Key, Maumee, inspected March 11. Employees are not verifiably informed of their duty to report illnesses relevant to food safety. A chemical spray bottle of pink liquid had no label.

    Red Roof Inn , 1570 Reynolds Road, Maumee, inspected March 11. A glass container was stored improperly in the kitchen hand-washing sink.

    Hampton Inn , 1409 Reynolds, Maumee, inspected March 4. The person-in-charge did not ensure employees maintain safe temperatures for hot or cold food storage, properly sanitize equipment and utensils, or are trained in food safety. The mechanical ware washing machine failed to dispense chlorine sanitizer when required. No sanitizer spray or wipe bucket was set up during food handling and surfaces were not sanitized. Packets of cream cheese holding in a container were too warm. Items holding out of refrigeration on a time basis had no time stamps.

    Barnes & Noble Booksellers , 3100 Main, Maumee, inspected March 11. A chemical spray bottle was stored improperly in the back room hand-washing sink. Cheese and salami snack packs in the open-air display cooler were too warm. The display cooler did not maintain proper temperature.

    Imaginative Beginnings Early Learning Center , 412 Illinois, Maumee, inspected March 12. Food cans had dented rims.

    S&G , 497 W. Dussel, Maumee, inspected March 15. A chemical container and an open bag of grout were stored with and above food on a storage rack in the back room.

    Comfort Inn , 1426 S. Reynolds, Maumee, inspected March 15. The facility was using an unapproved sanitizer.

    Elizabeth Scott Community , 2720 Albon, Maumee, inspected March 18. Debris in the rehab area hand-washing sink indicated improper use as a dump sink. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer in the wipe-cloth bucket and the Level 3 kitchen’s three-bay sink was too weak. The Level 3 kitchen’s prep-top cooler failed to maintain proper refrigeration and chicken salad and grilled cheese sandwiches in it were too warm.

    Days Inn , 1704 Tollgate, Maumee, inspected March 18. Dishes were stored improperly in the dining area hand-washing sink. A wire rack with a pitcher on it was placed improperly over the pantry hand-washing sink.

    Toledo Country Inn & Suites , 541 W. Dussel, Maumee, inspected March 21. Scrambled eggs in the buffet area hot-holding unit were too cool.

    Shell/​TrueNorth Energy , 298 W. Dussel, Maumee, inspected March 25. Drain plumbing for the self-service soda machine and ice machine lacked air gaps to prevent sewage backflow.

    Little Caesars , 731 Conant, Maumee, inspected March 19. The person-in-charge did not ensure employees are trained properly in food safety. Employees are not verifiably informed of their duty to report illnesses relevant to food safety. Written procedures and plans are not maintained and implemented. Drying racks were tacky, gritty, and in need of immediate deep cleaning. Pizza cutters and pizza spatulas were stored with handles and food-contact surfaces touching the food-contact portion of clean pizza boxes, making them unclean. Pizza had been placed on a rack without the timer being set.

    Maumee High School , 1147 Saco, Maumee, inspected March 26. Both kitchen can openers’ blades were dirty with food debris.

    Jimmy John’s , 1470 Ford, Maumee, inspected March 26. No sanitizer bucket was set up and the cutting boards and work surfaces had not been sanitized before use.

    Home 2 Suites , 1701 Tollgate, Maumee, inspected March 26. Cooked scrambled eggs and oatmeal in hot holding were too cool. A container of hard-boiled eggs was too warm.

    Panera Bread , 491 W. Dussel, Maumee, inspected March 28. Drying racks were sticky and gritty, making any clean dishes placed on them unclean. Drain plumbing for the self-service soda machine and ice bin lacked air gaps to prevent sewage backflow.

    Maumee Antique Mall , 1552 S. Reynolds, Maumee, inspected March 28. Drain plumbing for the ice machine, ice bin, and soda dispenser lacked air gaps to prevent sewage backflow.

    Wendy’s , 914 Conant, Maumee, inspected April 1. The ware washing machine dispensed chlorine sanitizer that was too weak, and the machine had no visual or audible alarm to indicate low sanitizer. Pans of food in the make table holding on a time basis had no time stamps. Drain plumbing for the drink and ice machines at the drive-up window lacked air gaps to prevent sewage backflow.

    Elizabeth Wayne Preschool , 310 Elizabeth, Maumee, inspected April 1. Cheese and yogurt in the milk refrigerator was too warm.

    The Healthy Panther , 134 Chesterfield, Maumee, inspected April 2. No air gap at the ice machine.

    Deet’s BBQ , 1385 Conant, Maumee, inspected April 4. The ware washing machine failed to dispense chlorine sanitizer at proper concentration. The self-service soda and ice machines lacked air gaps in the drain plumbing to prevent sewage backflow.

    Comfort Inn & Suites , 1702 Tollgate, Maumee, inspected March 14. The person-in-charge failed to ensure employees are properly trained in food safety. Employees are not verifiably informed of their duty to report illnesses relevant to food safety. No sanitizing bucket was made up. An employee failed to sanitize food-contact items after washing and rinsing them.
