Man injured in Butterfield wreck
A Butterfield man was injured on Friday in a wreck at 11:35 p.m. on Highway 37, half a mile west of Butterfield. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, John Cargile, 58, of Butterfield, was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound when his vehicle failed to yield to southbound a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, being driven by Benjamin Roe, 54, of Cassville, causing the Freightliner to strike the Dodge.
No charges to be filed in Joplin Police Officer-Involved Shooting
JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — Capt William Davis of Joplin Police says last week the investigation was complete in the February 9, 2024 Officer-Involved Shooting on West 7th. They were then submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.

— FARMER’S EXCHANGE GOING UP Construction has started on the new Cassville Farmer’s Exchange building. Footings and foundations for the structure are being installed preparatory to the metal building being assembled. The building, 60×160 feet, is scheduled for arrival here by May 20. Duane Blankenship, manager, says exchange plans are to move to the building the latter part of July.

How a Carthage vineyard combats late frost
CARTHAGE, Mo. (KSNF/KODE) — Recent cold snaps in Southwest Missouri have threatened this year’s crops for many farmers. A late frost could decimate this year’s harvest – and it has. Murphy Orchard in Marionville, Mo. has reported 60-80% crop loss on this year’s peaches. Fortunately, they say their other crops escaped the frost unharmed.
Spring River Pioneer Days
You don’t want to miss the inaugural Spring River Pioneer Days happening May 31st through June 2nd in Verona, MO!!. The event will kick off Friday evening at 6pm to 10pm with a street dance and vendors of all kinds, then Saturday morning at 7am there will be a Flag ceremony then Pancake feed to follow, and for entertainment we will have gun fighters, stagecoach rides, cowboy poets and music, the Red Bandanna Dulcimers, face painter, food trucks and craft vendors there will also be a mountain man village with trader tent and pioneer village for those that want to learn a little history. There will be tomahawks as well. We are going to have a bank robbery in the evening at 5:00pm and stories, S’mores by the campfire with our actors, plus if all goes well entertainment for the kids maybe a petting zoo, Period games. Sunday we will have cowboy church at 10am to 11. All kinds of fun to be had by everyone involved or if your just out for the day. Plus a murder mystery may be taking place as well!
