Carthage City Council hosts special meeting

CARTHAGE, Mo. (KOAM) -- The City of Carthage hosted a special meeting Monday, April 29, to discuss next steps in efforts to remove the city administrator and impeach the mayor.

The council moved forward with a Request For Proposal for legal guidance on their next moves.

The request could either bring in an independent law firm or mean hiring a new city attorney, after Carthage's resigned earlier this month.

Some members of the council want to remove City Administrator Greg Dagnan because they believe the City has been divided and residents have "lost trust in the city hall." However, Mayor Dan Rife says he must also sign off on the removal, which he refuses to do.

The council's next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, May 14, though members discussed the possibility of holding another special meeting before then.
