Exeter hoopster awarded in Aurora
Kylee Cole, of Exeter, raked in a bushel of postseason awards for her basketball play at Aurora this year. Cole averaged 20.9 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game and 1.8 steals per game. She made 112 three-pointers shooting at a 37.5% clip, setting a new school record making her 9th all-time in single season three-pointers made. Cole’s 626 points also puts her 42nd all-time in Missouri single-season scoring. Cole helped the Lady Houn’ Dawgs to a 25-5 season, a school record for wins, and a second consecutive district championship, the first Aurora repeat in history. For her efforts, Cole was named First Team All-Big 8 East, MBCA Class 4 District 12 All-District Team and Player of the Year, MBCA Class 4 All-State, 4SBCA First Team All-Area, Springfield News-Leader Dominant Dozen Team and All-O-Zone Honorable Mention. Cole is the daughter of Jason and Tracie Cole and the granddaughter of Linda and the Lat eJohn Cole, and Howard and Jackie Burns, of Exeter.
The Big 8 Art Show returns to East Newton High School
GRANBY, Mo. — Plenty of art on display today at East Newton High School, as a fun event returned for the first time in 8 years. The Big 8 Art Show featured student-made works from kids representing the likes of, obviously, East Newton, as well as Nevada, Monett, Lamar, and Cassville High Schools. They were tasked with creating either a sculpture, acrylic painting, or a digital design of their choosing, which were then judged by area art teachers.

Officials of FASCO, Industries, Inc. the City of Cassville, Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Corp., have jointly announced ground breaking ceremonies next Tuesday, May 28 for the new company manufacturing facility here. The announcements came shortly after election results were tabulated in Tuesday’s election. Representing FASCO will be R. W. Gysel, vice president, motor division; Peter Weis, vice president, Missouri motor division; Morris Castleberry of the Ozark plant, who will be the Cassville superintendent, and Mike Prueter, sales manager. The groundbreaking will begin at 5 p.m. at the plant site on the Sales Parn Road here. The public is invited to attend. A short program will be held at the site, with a music unit from the Cassville schools. Representing local interests will be Mayor Bill LeCompte, Bob Mitchell, C of C president, Bill Wiley, IDC chairman and Joe Ellis, IDC attorney. Representing the Missouri Division of Commerce and Industrial Development, which was most helpful in several stages of planning, will be Don Estell, industrial development specialist.
