Loves Travel Stop, game changer for community; Sarcoxie Loves hiring event

SARCOXIE, Mo. (KOAM) — The new Love’s Travel Stop has an opening date in Sarcoxie, June 20, 6 a.m.

This Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16, they are holding a hiring fair at the Sarcoxie Community Building, 218 North 5th , 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

We got to catch up with the new General Manager of Love’s Sarcoxie, Louis Niewald , he has been with the company eight years, most recently operating the Mo-43 Love’s Travel Stop feat Hardee’s at I-44 exit 4. That location continues to thrive.

“Loves is significant economic contributor to the communities they serve. Often the largest taxpayer. Our annual average sales tax per location is over $1 million. The average local tax is over $200,000. Most of that goes to schools, fire depts, police departments and more.” — Louis Niewald, GM

That means Love’s Travel Stop is a game changer for many smaller communities.

For instance Love’s will also open a new location in Jasper, Mo. on I-49 in the next year. The Police Chief there announced this week they are hiring two new police officers.

“We are looking for two new police officers to join our staff. We have a pro-police Mayor and City Council, great community,” states Police Chief Chad Karr . “After Love’s is up and going raises are planned and we will be adding retirement to officers.”

Niewald says, “We are opening about 20 Love’s Travel Stops a year. And working here there are opportunities for employee growth.”

Specifically they hiring 60-75 new employees at the Sarcoxie Love’s Travel Stop. They also operate the Arby’s Restaurant located inside the building.

This new location is innovative Niewald tells us, “We have RV overnight parking where travelers can reserve a spot ahead of time, have access to water, Wi-Fi, facilities. Travelers reserve on the APP, the Love’s Connect APP . And at the pumps they can save 10 cents a gallon on fuel.”

For truckers there will be about 70 parking spots for big rigs. Easy access to the diesel fuel island. “And this location has 10 showers.” Compared to other nearby Love’s that have only three.

Questions about employment? Niewald encourages all to drop by the hiring fair. They are seeking full and part time employees. Jobs need to be filled inside the Arby’s and the main store. They are encouraging locals to join the team from La Russell, Sarcoxie, Wentworth etc.
