Police seek information on assault at West Toledo bar
Toledo police are seeking information about a felonious assault at Tribe’s Tavern, 4002 W. Alexis Rd. At 11:20 p.m. Friday, police found Elvis McPherson, 46, bleeding from the head and face. Witnesses told police Mr. McPherson was sitting at the bar when he was attacked by an unknown male without any provocation. The suspect is described as Hispanic, 5-feet, 7 inches tall, heavy set, bald, and with a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants. Mr. McPherson was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital for treatment.
Monroe St. Best Buy temporarily closed
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Best Buy on Monroe Street in Toledo will be temporarily closed while a “refresh” is done. According to officials with Best Buy corporate, the store closed a few weeks ago after a water break of some kind. Corporate officials said the location was already on the list for an upgrade and the water break led to corporate speeding up the process.

U.S. Marshals arrest man wanted by Toledo Police for crime against minor
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The United States Marshals Service (USMS) arrested a man in Monroe Thursday morning who was wanted by the Toledo Police Department. Kevin Javon Jordan, 21, was wanted by the Toledo Police Department for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Jordan allegedly crawled through a bedroom window and then engaged in unlawful sex with a minor. Authorities said he was found at a home near the 1200 block of Josephine Court in Monroe.

D's Barbeque deserves an A
In a city that hosts several barbeque focused events like the Northwest Ohio Rib Off, amazing everyday barbeque is relatively hard to find. D’s Barbeque, an expansion of a food truck run by Darise May which was opened in October, does not outwardly jump at you, from its location inside the former Harbor Light Masonic Lodge in the Point Place neighborhood, but in large part the food was quite memorable. My first visit to the place on a weekday afternoon found the place relatively empty except for May, a very genial and gracious host, who seems to be the only employee. I ordered the 3 rib dinner ($17) which came with two sides, and I chose the green beans and the mac and cheese.

Second murder defendant in boys' deaths enters sealed plea
One of four adults alleged to be in the supporting cast for the late 2022 disappearances and deaths of two teenage boys pleaded guilty to undisclosed charges Wednesday morning in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. As was the case with the previous plea in January of co-defendant Cruz Garcia, Corbin Gingrich, 27, of the 500 block of Maumee Avenue made a plea under seal April 25 before Judge Lori Olender. And he entered it on the eve of jury selection for the trial of two other men charged with aggravated murder for the December 2022 kidnappings and deaths of Kyshawn Pittman, 15, and Ke’Marion Wilder, 16. Like three others in the case, Gingrich was indicted last year for two counts apiece of murder and kidnapping, under the apparent theory that he participated in the Dec. 3, 2022 kidnappings that resulted in the boys’ deaths but was not directly involved in killing them.

May 1, 2024, News Release from the Wood County Sheriff's Office: On May 1, 2024, at 8:27 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff's Office was notified of a single-vehicle crash at Mears Rd. and Main St. in the Village of Jerry City, which resulted in a single fatality. Street repairs to close Oak Street in East Toledo
Pavement restoration will close part of an East Toledo street Wednesday and Thursday, the Toledo Department of Transportation announced. Oak Street’s northbound lane will be closed between Earl Street and Navarre Avenue, with traffic detoured via Fassett, Miami, and First streets. Fassett and Stillman Street to East Broadway Street and Woodville Road is another alternative to rejoin Oak at Navarre or at Woodville.
Woman enters no contest plea in 2023 drowning of son
OREGON, Ohio — An Oregon, Ohio woman pleaded no contest to child endangerment and was sentenced Wednesday after a 2023 incident that resulted in the death of a toddler. According to court records, Ashleigh Inocentes withdrew her previous plea of not guilty and entered a plea of no contest. A judge sentenced Inocentes to three years of community control in the charge stemming from her 2-year-old son Marcus Hall's death. According to a court statement from Inocentes' attorney, Hall was found dead after drowning in an uncovered, unfenced pool owned by a neighbor.

Suspect in Monroe County party store robbery arrested in Toledo
MONROE, Mich. – The man believed to be responsible for an armed robbery in Monroe County was arrested after reportedly fleeing to Toledo, Ohio. The armed robbery happened just before 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at a party store in Ida Township. According to authorities, a man wearing coveralls, gloves and a facemask entered the store, implied he had a weapon and demanded money from a store employee. He ran off with an unknown amount of cash to a vehicle that was parked and waiting nearby.
