Staunton: New city assessor from Powhatan County will begin May 20 ahead of next reassessment
Douglas Flinn has been named the new City Assessor for the City of Staunton and will assume his new role on May 20, 2024. “We are excited to have Douglas joining our team as we move closer to our next property reassessment,” said Assistant City Manager Amanda Kaufman. “He brings nearly two decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge from his time with three jurisdictions in Virginia.”

Danish green energy company coming to Virginia
(The Center Square) — The Danish green energy company Topsoe plans to make its largest U.S. investment to date in the commonwealth, according to an announcement from the governor Wednesday. The deal would bring a $400 million new factory to Chesterfield County, potentially creating 150 new jobs, pending a final investment decision. State police say man who died in I-295 ramp crash was not wearing a seat belt
CHESTER − State police say a Chesterfield County man was killed early Monday in a single-car crash on one of the exit ramps from state Route 10 to Interstate 295. Christopher Jamal Valentine, 37, of Midlothian, was on the ramp from Route 10 east onto I-295 south when his 2012 Toyota Camry ran off the left side of the road and hit multiple trees, state police Sgt. Jessica Shehan said. He was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
