Police identify two women killed in crash in Henrico, charges pending for drivers

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico County Division of Police has identified the two people killed in a crash on South Laburnum Avenue Thursday morning.

According to police, the two people killed have been identified as 24-year-old Hilda Nunez of Henrico County and 20-year-old Lizbeth Alvarez of Chesterfield County.

Officers responded to the intersection of South Laburnum Avenue and New Market Road in the Varina area of Henrico at around 6:17 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

At the scene, the officers found a box truck on its side and an SUV, both of which were off the roadway. It was determined that the driver of the box truck was heading south on South Laburnum while the driver of the SUV tried to make a left turn onto New Market Road in front of the box truck and the two vehicles collided.

Nunez and Alvarez, both of whom were passengers in the SUV, died at the scene.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital but have since been discharged. According to police, charges are pending for both of them.
