Zoo releases hundreds of endangered Oregon silverspot butterfly caterpillars on the coast
PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) — In a breezy coastal meadow this week, Oregon Zoo conservationists and their partners said goodbye to 381 of the zoo’s tiniest residents. They were releasing Oregon silverspot butterfly larvae at select sites in the coastal mountain range in an effort to save this beautiful and threatened Northwest species, which has been listed under the federal Endangered Species Act since 1980.

Portland Will Soon Be Home to a Nonalcoholic Bar and Bottle Shop
Five years ago, Ariel Dunitz-Johnson stopped drinking. The artist found lots of joy in developing nonalcoholic cocktails, but finding a booze-free social space was a bigger challenge. Suckerpunch came and went, with founder Andy McMillan focusing on his nonalcoholic beer brand Heck, and while many bottle shops have a few nonalcoholic options — a bottle of Wilderton, a 12-pack of Phony Negronis — the city was still low on dedicated nonalcoholic bottle shops. They kept looking around for someone to open some sort of nonalcoholic bar; after a while, they stopped looking.

The Rose Festivals builds all the floats for its parades, and crews have been busy working to prepare them. The CareOregon Starlight Parade is June 1, the Fred Meyer Junior Parade is June 5 and the Grand Floral Parade is June 8.
