Portland Police Score Win with 19 Arrests and Recovered Goods in Retail Theft Crackdown
In a major crackdown on retail theft, the Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct hit the jackpot with a hefty haul of collars and recovered goods. On May 17, the officers, alongside the K9 Unit and Air Support Unit, swarmed the shopping areas of Mall 205 and Gateway nabbing 19 suspects, reclaiming two stolen vehicles, and recovering approximately $2,000 worth of pilfered merchandise.
Body recovered near Steel Bridge
PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A body was recovered from the Willamette River near the Steel Bridge on Sunday afternoon, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said that the body will be taken by boat to the medical examiner, where a cause of death will be determined. A death investigation will follow.
Portland man arrested for murder in unincorporated Clackamas County
A Portland man was arrested Wednesday in connection to the murder of 31-year-old Kaley Ann Snow, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. Bobby Lee Grady Alsup III, 31, faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-and second-degree arson, first- and second-degree abuse of a corpse, first-degree theft and tampering with evidence. Snow was found dead after a fire in her home on Southeast Flavel Drive in unincorporated Clackamas County March 21. According to a press release, Alsup was already lodged in Washington County Jail on unrelated charges when a judge issued the arrest warrant. Snow and Alsup knew each other, the release stated.

GRESHAM Ore. (KPTV) - Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating an endangered 14-year-old boy. Kaleb Bolin Moore left his home in the 2400 block of NE Division Street in Gresham without permission on Saturday night, and may have gone to a friend’s house in the area. He is without his anti-seizure medication.

A former industrial site in North Portland inches closer to becoming a nature park
Nearly 30 years ago, Metro purchased a 27-acre property located on the east side of the Willamette River near the St. John’s neighborhood in North Portland. Before it can become a nature park with trails and beach access, Willamette Cove first needs to be cleaned up to remove toxic metals, dioxins and other pollutants lingering in the soil and water after decades of heavy industrial activity at the site. As planning for the cleanup gets underway, Metro recently asked residents for their opinions on what features and amenities they want included in the nature park. Joining us to talk about the outreach efforts ramping up and the vision for Willamette Cove is Cory Eldridge, a communications specialist at Metro and the community engagement lead on the project.
