Police have identified the man who was fatally stabbed early Tuesday morning, May 7, at an apartment complex in Worcester County. A GoFundMe campaign was also created to help his family.

Robert Wright-Day, 20, was stabbed at the Riverside Village Apartment complex on State St., the Worcester County District Attorney said Wednesday. Police were called to the area around 1 a.m.

Paramedics rushed Day to Leominster Hospital, where he later died of his wounds.

A GoFundMe created to help his family has raised more than $7,000 of its $10,000 goal by Wednesday afternoon.

The campaign said he graduated from Leominster High School and was a standout football player at Athol High while he was there.

Today our family sadly announces the loss of Robert Wright Day. We are processing the unexpected passing of a vibrant 20-year-old young man just beginning his life. Robert was taken from us unexpectedly this morning at the hands of another. No family should have to endure so much pain as a result of such an unexpected tragedy. Our family would ask for help and planning arrangements for this young man who was not only family too many but, a friend to all. Robert was graduate of Leominster high school and known as a star football player while attending Athol high school.

No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators are asking for the public's help and are seeking any video of the incident. Anyone with any recordings, videos, or information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Leominster Police at 978-534-7560.
