Food, Live Music, and a meeting with Mobile's Court system?
There’s an event tomorrow along the Gulf coast featuring food and live music as well as a judge, a prosecutor, and a defense attorney. The City of Mobile is hosting a clinic to resolve outstanding warrants in the court system. It’s the first event of its kind in Alabama and it only handles non-violent offenses. Suntrease Williams-Maynard is a Deputy City Attorney with Mobile. She says her office is partnering with the nonprofit group called Growing Real Alternatives Everywhere to host the clinic.
Mobile To Open Pools, Splash Pads; Launches Water Safety Program
The City of Mobile’s swimming pools, splash pads and aquatic programs will open on May 27. Each splash pad has a safe, rubberized surface, with fountain and spray features that are wheelchair accessible. Proper swimwear is required to use the splash pad, and infants and toddlers must wear a swim diaper. Splash pads are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September 28. The Mobile Parks and Recreation Department will have four fully staffed pools open six days a week this summer. The swimming pools are open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through August 3. Additionally, this summer, the department is partnering with the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority to offer a new course, Swim 1922. This safety program is taught across the country to help young people stay safe when swimming. Children ages 5-8 can participate for free. Children in the city can enroll in swim classes, which will be offered June 4-July 25 in partnership with the Port City Marlins swim team. Level I lessons cover basics like floating, kicking, breathing and basic stroke development. Level II builds on those techniques with additional strokes, breathing techniques and more advanced goals for young swimmers. Prichard Water & Sewer: The problem with it, the price to fix it, and who might operate it
PRICHARD, Ala. (WPMI) — To the casual observer, it may have just looked like a series of maps and charts. But to most of those sitting in the Prichard City Hall auditorium Thursday evening, it represented their first real look at the condition of the Prichard Water Works and Sewer Board, how much it will cost to fix the troubled system, and who will run eventually operate it.
Summer Schedule For Local Interns Announced

PRCA Mobile Hosting Breakfast Mixer On May 23
The Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA) Mobile Chapter is hosting a May Breakfast Mixer on May 23 at 8 a.m. with a build-your-own biscuit bar at Maple Street Biscuit Co. on Old Shell Road. PRCA Mobile will have guests from several organizations, such as the Mobile Arts Council, the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department, United Way of Southwest Alabama and Rebuilding Together of South Alabama and to share summer activities and volunteer opportunities.
