South Alabama lands first football commitment for 2025 class from Florida prep linebacker
South Alabama landed its first public commitment for the 2025 recruiting class on Monday, from Florida high school linebacker Byron Jackson. Jackson, from Gadsden County High School just north of Tallahassee, also had scholarship offers from Southern Miss, Troy, South Florida and Maryland, among other schools. If there weren’t a lot of offensive fireworks in Saturday’s South Alabama spring football game, that was by design. The Jaguars intentionally played it close to the vest in their first spring game under coach Major Applewhite. There were two touchdowns during the two 20-minute “halves” of regular scrimmaging, then three more in the red zone “lockout” period.
Lions Club Double Tunnel Vision Run takes runners through the Bankhead Tunnel twice
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — The Lions Club of Mobile Double Tunnel Vision Run, May 4, 2024 is a certified 5k course and will begin near Canal Street between Washington Avenue and Broad Street. The race will finish at Oyster City Brewing Company on Government Street. Participants will have the unique opportunity of running through the Bankhead Tunnel twice during the race.
