WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Law enforcement officers were involved in a standoff in east Wichita Friday morning. It ended peacefully just before noon.

The standoff was near East Kellogg Drive and South Armour Drive on the south side of the road. There are two hotels at that location.

A Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson says the sheriff’s office was assisting U.S. Marshals with serving a warrant around 8:20 a.m. The alleged suspect is a man in his 40s. Officials say the man was with two other people, and when he saw law enforcement, he ran back into the Red Roof Inn and barricaded himself inside. The two other people were able to leave right away.

A Wichita Police Department negotiator began working to resolve the situation around 10:20 a.m. The alleged suspect surrendered a few minutes before noon.

Pictures taken before the standoff ended showed law enforcement vehicles and an ambulance.

Officers blocked Armour south of Kellogg Drive to Orme Street. The standoff did not appear to be affecting traffic on Kellogg.
