WICHITA, Kan. KSNW) — McConnell Air Force Base says they are relocating aircraft again ahead of this weekend’s expected severe weather.

It’s the second time this month the planes have been sent off base and out of the region to avoid potential severe weather. The base’s KC-135R Stratotanker and KC-46A Pegasus aircraft, flown by the 22nd and 931st Air Refueling Wings, began leaving Friday, with more aircraft leaving Saturday.

The remaining aircraft undergoing maintenance, along with flightline vehicles and equipment will stay behind, stored in hangers. The base says flight crews will continue training exercises in coordination with other military units while away from McConnell and on their return trip to base.
