Car slams into West Warwick building

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A car crashed into a beauty salon in West Warwick on Wednesday.

Police responding to Orange Comb at the corner of Cowesett Avenue and Lockwood Street around 8:45 a.m. found the car inside the front-left corner of the building.

The business was not open at the time, but Deb Berardis said her sister lives in their childhood home attached to it and was there getting ready for the day.

Berardis said her sister was shaken being just a few feet away, but otherwise she was not hurt.

“It’s a miracle, it’s a miracle,” she said. “My sister’s a blessed woman.”

The daughter of the driver said her 80-year-old mother was taken to the hospital. Officials said she had minor injuries.

No word on what caused the crash.
