    3 killed in West Chester wrong-way crash

    BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Police are investigating after a wrong-way crash killed three people on Sunday evening.

    West Chester police and medics were sent out to the intersection of Cox Road and Service Center Drive around 6:30 p.m. on May 5. The area was shut down to traffic for several hours while crews were on scene.

    911 callers described a driver traveling on the wrong side of the road. According to our partners at WLWT , there were two crashes involved with the wrong-way driver.

    One crash occurred near the VOA shopping center. Officials say no one was injured in this initial crash.

    The wrong-way driver then went on to strike another vehicle near Service Center Drive. Three vehicles were involved in this collision. All vehicles were left severely damaged, with one flipped on its top on the side of the street.

    Three people were killed in this crash. WLWT reports two people died on scene with a third person pronounced dead later in the hospital.

    Police have not confirmed how the crash started, nor have identified any of the victims. As of Monday morning, investigation is ongoing.
