Davenport Community Schools offer free meals for kids this summer
The Davenport Community School District is joining the 2024 Summer Food Service Program, which offers free meals to children 18 and under. "You don't have to be a Davenport community member; you can come from anywhere," Christa Andersen, Davenport Community School District Field Specialist, said. "[There] is no income eligibility, so anyone ages one to eighteen can eat our free meals."
Bettendorf Middle School names new associate principal, dean
Bettendorf Middle School has named a new associate principal and dean of students. Rachael Dierickx will take over as the school’s new associate principal. Dierickx has been with the district since 2007 and is currently the district MTSS facilitator, an administrative role supporting curriculum and professional development, district teams and elementary administration. Previously, Dierickx was an instructional coach at Bettendorf Middle School for four years and spent 12 years teaching language arts and honors language arts. Dierickx has a Master of Education in Educational Administration and principal endorsements from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
Rock Island-Milan School Board moves vote on deputy superintendent to late-month special meeting
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The Rock Island-Milan School District was supposed to vote Tuesday night on a deputy superintendent, a newly-created position, that’s caused some controversy. However, that agenda item ended up not being voted on during Tuesday night’s school board meeting. Instead, the agenda item on a deputy superintendent will be moved to a special meeting that’s scheduled to be held at the end of the month.

MOLINE, Ill. — The Moline-Coal Valley School District will be adding soccer programs at its two middle schools next year. Seventh and eighth graders from John Deere and Wilson middle schools will be able to participate. DECORAH — The Decorah High School baseball team faced a tough doubleheader on June 8, falling to Cedar Falls and North Scott in back-to-back games. In the first game of the day, Cedar Falls overpowered Decorah with a decisive 10-0 victory in just five innings. Cedar Falls took an early lead with two runs in the first inning. The team capitalized on a strong offensive performance led by Colin Coonradt, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
