I've always felt the National Football Foundation-College Football Hall of Fame was a little sketchy. That has come up in recent days with the reveal of the ballot for the upcoming Hall of Fame. In the coach category, it was no surprise that Nick Saban made it (over 70 and retired made him eligible just months after that surprise retirement announcement), as did Urban Meyer (qualified by having been retired three years). The big omission, an emotional one for many, is that Mike Leach, the colorful and innovative "Pirate" who head coached 21 years at Texas Tech, Washington State, and Mississippi State, and who died unexpectedly at age 61 in 2022, is not eligible.
