Huskers Earn Four Titles Saturday
WACO, TEXAS – Nebraska track and field earned four titles on Saturday at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas, while adding an Olympic Standard. Axelina Johansson headlined a Nebraska top-four sweep in the shot put, hitting the Olympic Standard and setting a facility record at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium. The 61-9 (18.82m) was the best in the field by over two meters. Kalynn Meyer placed second with a 53-3 ¾ (16.25m), Amelia Flynt finished third with a 53-0 (16.15m) and Kellyn Kortemeyer took fourth with a 51-5 ¾ (15.69m).
Tyler Grace’s Craig retires all 4 batters in Baylor win
WACO, Texas (KLTV) - Fomer Tyler Grace Cougar Gabe Craig had three strikeouts and did not allow a runner for Baylor in the Bears’ 9-3 win over Sam Houston. The redshirt junior entered the game at the start of the seventh inning and struck out the first two batters before the third flied out. Craig came back for the eighth inning and got his third strikeout before being pulled from the game.

, Three Groesbeck track athletes who competed at the Region III-3A meet failed to qualify for the state meet based on their performances at the regional at Waco Midway on Saturday, April 20.Cyler Corn finished fourth in the shot put and Jordan Smith was fourth in the 100-meter dash. On the girls' side, Mohoganie Washington finished eighth in the 100-meter dash.The top two finishers in each event will move on to the UIL State Track & Field Championships slated for Thursday, May 2, at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.Smith, a freshman, was timed in 11.28 seconds in the finals. He was three-tenths of a second out of qualifying for the state meet. Chard Hayes of Boling finished second in 10.98 seconds. Coy Klish of West won the race in 10.89 seconds.Corn, a senior, finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 46 feet, 1 1/4 inch.Washington, a senior, was timed in 13.18 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Na'Kayla Conner of Fairfield won the event in 12.37 seconds.
