The 2027 class is embarking on their sophomore journey. A lot of kids do not truly blossom until their junior year, maybe even later. But there are those precocious guys who step it up big as sophomores, or for that matter have been observed balling out as high school freshmen.

Schaefer: Roster limit leaves Nebraska's walk-on program now in doubt
There's apparently no room for a walk-on program in the new college football landscape. At least for some schools. The new legislation for college football provides a max of 105-man roster. But more than that it allows schools to put all of those players on scholarship if it chooses. Different schools are likely going to have make different decisions for various reasons.

Jalen Rivers aims to help lead offensive line in fifth season
The Hurricanes return three starters on the offensive line and Jalen Rivers figures to be a key leader of the group. "Talking to coach (Mario) Cristobal, he said that teams he's been a part of and the teams he's been on, they were player-led and they were very successful," Rivers said on The Joe Rose Show on WQAM 560 AM. "So it's important for us to have that leadership and very important for us that are not as vocal to step up and be more vocal. And it's different parts to being a leader too. You can do one-on-one, you get up in front of everybody and say this and this and that. But we all have a leadership council and when we all come together as one, we're unbeatable as a team because everybody's listening to us, everybody wants us to be leaders and wants to listen to us. So it's important when we say something as a team as a leader, everybody follows and they want to be a part of the team with a great culture. And I think that's what we uphold as leaders."

Washington has notched another impressive recruiting victory out West ahead of its inaugural season in the Big Ten. Three-star safety Rylon Dillard-Allen from Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe announced his commitment to the Huskies on Friday, giving coach Jedd Fisch and Co. a significant addition to a 2025 class that is pacing for a top-20 finish nationally. Here is everything you need to know about the Huskies' latest win on the trail:
BREAKING: Arizona defensive back Rylon Dillard-Allen verbally commits to Washington
The new Washington staff had known about Rylon Dillard-Allen from their time at Arizona, so it wasn't a big surprise the 5-foot-11, 165-pound safety prospect from Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix would be curious about what might be going on with them at Washington, and that they would reach out in kind. However, the Huskies, and especially new Washington safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri, won a major recruiting battle moments ago when Dillard-Allen announced his verbal commitment on Instagram Live to the Dawgs over a who's who of top schools after taking an official visit to Montlake back at the end of June.
