Finding an affordable home in Tennessee doesn’t have to mean giving up charm, comfort, or a welcoming community. While housing prices in larger cities continue to stretch budgets, several smaller towns across West Tennessee still offer opportunities for buyers hoping to spend less than $200,000. From quiet neighborhoods and...
Governor-elect Marsha Blackburn said school choice, property taxes, workforce housing, and childcare will be early priorities.
A coffee fortune built this Tennessee estate, and it shows. Money from a big-name coffee brand paid for a 30,000-square-foot Georgian mansion on a hill. The owners even mashed their two last names together to name the place, an old-school version of a couple’s hashtag. Today, the house holds...

The states are Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Wyoming. Every one is a proposal. Nothing changes on any tax bill unless the measure passes. Where the 12 measures […]

Nashville takes up most of the oxygen when the conversation turns to growth in the Volunteer State. From the new Titans stadium and East Bank redevelopment to corporate investments and new restaurants, there is no shortage of projects keeping Tennessee’s capital in the spotlight. But the growth story extends well beyond Nashville. Surrounding counties continue to attract residents and investment, and Williamson County offers a clear example of how that growth is shaping both communities and the housing market. U.S. Census Bureau figures show Williamson County added more than 24,000 residents between 2020 and 2025. That growth brings demand for housing, businesses and places where people can gather. In Franklin, several projects illustrate how developers are responding while creating new reasons for people to visit and call the area home. The Factory at Franklin is one example. The historic former stove factory, now home to entertainment, restaurants and shopping, has plans for a 120-room boutique hotel as part of its expansion. In Cool Springs, Canteen on Carothers is bringing additional dining and retail options to the area, with Char among its announced restaurants. The development is designed around indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, adding another destination for residents and visitors.

Tennessee doesn’t tax Social Security benefits, pension payments, or IRA withdrawals at the state level. For retirees watching every dollar, that is already a pretty good start. Housing is where things get even more interesting. The typical Tennessee home was valued at around $331,000 in September 2026, but several...
