Awkward political metaphors aside, the days after the march to the polls are busy, busy, busy in the creative world. That’s especially the case with music and theater, which dominate this list of things to do. Music ranges from folk singers and local rockers to string quartets and Prokofiev’s “Romeo & Juliet” for strings and percussion. SCHROON LAKE | In recent years, a new wave of little art galleries have risen out of creativity. Taking a walk around towns that display these in the community have become a way of expressing a person’s imagination. It originally started by two art teachers in Nashville, Tennessee in 2016 as a way to bring the community together and inspire creativity. The shift from the little free library houses became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic as communities sought outdoor connections.

Lake Placid Rotary's new Bark Park proves it's a dog's world after all

LAKE PLACID | Though its formal opening won't take place until next spring, the Lake Placid Rotary Bark Park is open now, offering dogs a place to romp and socialize freely and safely in a gated enclosed environment located at the North Elba Athletic Field, with spectacular views for pups with a visual aesthetic. Over the winter, added amenities will include benches for people and agility objects for stimulating play - thanks to The Devlin hotel, Man & Beast pet store and Origin Coffee café and bean roasting. Long-time Burlington BBQ joint closes its doors

Bluebird Barbecue, a Burlington staple for slow-smoked meats, shut down this Halloween. The restaurant was set to serve curbside takeout until closing time on Saturday as a final sendoff. "It's time for Bluebird to say goodbye," owner Sue Bette said in a press release. "We wish Bluebird could continue on, but the conditions just aren't lining up for Bluebird to be Bluebird.” The barbecue restaurant had been roasting brisket, chopping beef and shredding coleslaw at 317 Riverside Ave. since 2012. Customers could chow down menu items like the “Family Reunion,” piled high with hickory-smoked meat that’s been cooking for 15 hours. The cuisine put a local spin on American classics, with maple-doused sauce or butter and pulled-pork poutine. Bluebird’s pitmaster ramen, which combined the burnt ends of slow-smoked brisket with Japanese noodle soup, earned a visit from TV personality and chef Guy Fieri for the popular Food Network show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” in 2020. Bette and the rest of the Bluebird Barbecue staff had no further comment on the restaurant’s closure, a representative told the Burlington Free Press last week. "As we send Bluebird off, we want to recognize all the Bluebirds, past and present, whose talent, creativity, and
