Senior Planet holds Emergency Preparedness course for older adults
PLATTSBURGH | Senior Planet is hosting an emergency preparedness training for older adults on Aug. 7. Part of the statewide Department Homeland Security Preparedness Corps initiative, the course provides resources and advice for disaster response and includes steps to create an emergency plan and how to stock up on supplies. Seniors who take the course receive a preparedness kit. There is no cost to attend.
Tavilla takes Day 2 lead at Champlain
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Despite windy and wavy conditions this week, Dan Tavilla has stuck to his smallmouth gameplan and the persistence has paid off as the New Hampshire angler leads the Mercury B.A.S.S. Nation Qualifier at Lake Champlain presented by Lowrance with a two-day total of 41-0. Opening the tournament in third place with a 21-2 limit of mostly smallmouth, Tavilla landed 19-14 on Day 2 to move into the lead. His lead is slim, however, as Delaware’s Craig Morris is just an ounce behind in second place and Day 1 leader Frankie Appaluccio is third with 40-8.
North Country basketball squad returns home after 'phenomenal' trip to Rucker Park

Airborne to host American Racer North Series tonight

Report: New York needs $29M to upgrade aging state bridges

New York Provides Free Overdose Emergency Kits to Domestic Violence Shelters
Domestic violence shelters and service providers across New York State now have access to free Overdose Emergency Kits. This initiative is a partnership between the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV), the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), and the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). The kits are provided through Project COPE (Community Overdose Prevention Education), funded by a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
