Saranac Lake PD equips patrol cars with “Carter Kits”
Saranac Lake, NY- One local police department is finding new ways to interact with the public, specifically those on the autism spectrum. The Saranac Lake Police Department, led by Chief Darin Perrotte, is looking for ways to improve service to all members of the community. Chief Perrotte said, “We have folks in our area with autism and other developmental disabilities, so something that the officers are encountering. We really wanted to look into how we could do a better job, and offer a better service, if you will, when we’re encountering these folks on a day-to-day basis.”

AuSable Valley lost a heartbreaker to Saranac when they met back in April of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. The AuSable Valley Patriots lost 14-5 to the Saranac Spartans. AuSable Valley has struggled against Saranac recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
