Tyler man to serve 18 years in prison for deadly crash
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Tyler man accepted a plea deal Friday to serve 18 years in prison for causing a deadly crash last year. Nicholas Ray Agustin, 20, pleaded guilty to charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault for a crash he caused last October. It happened on State Highway 110 near Tyler, when Agustin crossed into the other lane of traffic, where he collided with another car.

Former Van Zandt County chief deputy gets 44 months in prison for striking handcuffed arrestee. Speaking in court, Craig Shelton said he accepted full responsibility for violating the victim’s civil rights. Shelton also acknowledged his desire for drug and alcohol counseling, which was included in his sentence. Former Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Sgt. Blake Snell also was sentenced in an obstruction of justice case resulting from the 2021 incident involving Shelton. Repairs made to gas line that caused issues on Broadway Avenue
Traffic on Broadway Avenue in Tyler was affected Friday afternoon after a gas leak, Tyler police said. One southbound lane and one northbound land of S. Broadway Ave were closed beginning around 2:45 p.m. due to a gas leak in the area, according to Andy Erbaugh, Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer.
