Kalen DeBoer Is Making Headlines For Cryptic Alabama Transfer Portal Comment

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer has sky-high expectations this season.

Fans are expecting DeBoer to maintain Alabama's status as a perennial title contender. And to do that, DeBoer needs to keep bringing elite recruits into Tuscaloosa.

Yet, since DeBoer arrived on scene, Alabama has lost 33 players to the transfer portal.

That being said, DeBoer certainly hasn't struggled landing top recruits. He currently has the No. 2 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, headlined by an excellent class of defensive backs.

Among the major defensive players DeBoer has secured since joining Alabama are Jaylen Mbakwe, Zay Mincey, and Zabien Brown.

This seemingly successful start to his Crimson Tide tenure has fans wondering what DeBoer meant with a quote he was cited saying on Tuesday.

“Yeah, I would have hoped that it is what we’re going through right now," he said via On3 . "Of course, we’ve still got a couple of weeks left of that. You know, things can change. Guys are still always trying to figure out where they’re at in their career.”

Is DeBoer expecting more players to transfer? Or is he predicting that more recruits will flip to Alabama in the coming weeks?
