A house in Philomath that sold for $1.6 million tops the list of the most expensive residential real estate sales on the northern Oregon coast in the past week. In total, 41 residential real estate sales were recorded in the area during the past week, with an average price of $536,924. The average price per square foot was $327.
Coast Guard completes investigation into loss of Mary B II near Newport
The Coast Guard has completed its investigation into the January 8, 2019, loss of the Commercial Fishing Vessel MARY B II on the Yaquina Bay Bar near Newport, Oregon. The Coast Guard convened a Board of Investigation. The Board of Investigation held one public hearing session the week of May 13-17, 2019, in Newport, Oregon. Lincoln City police ongoing child luring sting operations led to arrest of two men
On April 18, 2024, Lincoln City Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Newport Police, Toledo Police, and Oregon State Police conducted joint investigations into child luring crimes in Lincoln County. During the investigations, officers posed as underage children on various online social media platforms and were contacted by two separate adult men who were offering to meet up for a sexual encounter. The following arrests were made during the course of these investigations:

LINCOLN COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - A woman is dead after a two-car crash on Highway 101 within Newport city limits Monday, according to Oregon State Police. At 5:39 p.m., troopers responded to a crash near milepost 143. Troopers said 74-year-old Heidi Fay Rock of Waldport was driving southbound on Highway 101 when she crossed the middle lane into the northbound lane for unknown reasons.

Woman found dead after hit-and-run on Hwy 20 near Corvallis
CORVALLIS, Ore. (KPTV) - The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run crashed that left a 29-year-old woman dead. Investigators say the crash happened within the last couple of days on Highway 20 near Hyak Park, between Albany and Corvallis. The sheriff’s office says a local farmer found the woman dead and notified authorities at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Sheriff’s office hosting hiring event
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is looking for individuals interested in joining its team. With multiple positions open, the sheriff’s office is hosting a hiring event this Saturday, April 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Search and Rescue Building, 830 NE Seventh St., Newport. Deputy applicants ages 21 years and older are invited to complete the written and physical testing requirements for free. Participants in this event experience a significantly expedited application process, officials said. In addition to completing required tests for free, participants also have the opportunity to meet the team, ask questions, receive more information on perks and benefits, and enjoy free lunch and snacks. All participants need to bring ID, and deputy applicants need to bring athletic clothes and shoes appropriate for the physical testing portion. Central Oregon Coast fire board will survey district residents on possible station, equipment bond
WALDPORT – The Central Oregon Coast Fire & Rescue board will soon be asking district residents if they would support a bond ranging from $7 million to $10 million to either remodel its downtown Waldport fire station, buy equipment and build a new Five Rivers sub-station or construct a new station outside the tsunami zone.

Bridge work underway
Restoration work is underway on the historic Rocky Creek Bridge, also known as the Ben Jones Bridge, located near the north end of Otter Crest Loop. The bridge was built in 1927. According to a project summary on the Oregon Department of Transportation website, “We’re replacing the system that helps prevent the metal from rusting. This is known as cathodic protection.
