Woman charged in double homicide pleads guilty to reduced murder charges

A woman charged with setting up a couple’s late-2022 shooting deaths in central Toledo has entered guilty pleas to two murder counts in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Camryn Chase , 23, of the 500 block of Leach Avenue, had been charged with two counts of complicity to aggravated murder and several other counts for the Nov. 11, 2022, deaths of Brent Roscoe, 36, and Malinda Moore, 28, at a home in the 2700 block of Albion Street.

Chase faces a mandatory life sentence when sentenced July 15 by Judge Ian English, who accepted her pleas Friday. The only uncertainty is when she will become eligible for parole.

Police cited witness statements and cellular data in accusing Chase of arranging for the shootings by suspected killer Price Jones, 24.

A car belonging to one of the victims was missing after the late-evening shootings, and police located it early the next morning in East Toledo with Mr. Jones inside, holding a gun to his own head.

After a 30-minute standoff, officers fatally shot Mr. Jones after he emerged from the car and began handling his weapon erratically, according to police accounts and body-camera footage.

Riley Franke, 20, of the 600 block of Hermitage Court in Oregon, entered Alford pleas April 2 to second-degree robbery with a firearm specification and second-degree burglary in the same case. Franke also is scheduled for sentencing July 15. The Alford plea denies guilt but concedes that sufficient evidence exists for a trial jury to convict.

Chase also was charged with robbery and burglary, but those counts will be dismissed at sentencing, as will obstruction of justice charges filed against both her and Franke.
