Ottawa Hills Local Schools to hire new athletic director
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Ottawa Hills Local Schools is expected to announce the hire of a new athletic director at their meeting on May 1. School officials say Ryan Wronkowicz, who is the current assistant athletic director and sports information director at Lourdes University, will be taking on the position of athletic director, pending the approval of the OH Board of Education.

Central Catholic DB Singleton solidified as Toledo area’s next big-time recruit
Northwest Ohio officially has its next big-time college football recruit, and his name is Victor Singleton. The Central Catholic defensive back is a four-star prospect, according to the first 247Sports Composite for the class of 2026 released Wednesday, which ranks him as the No. 67 player in the country. Singleton is the eighth-ranked cornerback and the third-ranked player in Ohio. He had four interceptions, including a pick-six, 15 pass breakups, four tackles for loss, and one forced fumble for the state champion Fighting Irish last season. The 6-foot, 160-pound Singleton has offers from Toledo, Bowling Green, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Indiana, Cincinnati, Akron, and Kent State.

Perrysburg’s girls track and field team took home the team title, led by an Ava Beeks win in the 1,600-meter run and a victorious 3,200 relay team at the 2024 Nancy Erme Relays held at Whitmer High School on Friday. The Yellow Jackets won with 126½ points. Whitmer grabbed runner-up honors with 108½ points, Anthony Wayne was third (107), St. Ursula Academy fourth (101½), Notre Dame Academy fifth (86), Springfield sixth (73), Tiffin Columbian seventh (59½), Northview eighth (46), Central Catholic ninth (30), Bedford 10th (25), Southview 11th (24), Bowsher 12th (8), and Start 13th (5). Boys track and field: Southview wins St. Francis Knight Relays
Southview got a pair of victories from Logan Howe in sprints that helped the Cougars take first with 102 points at the St. Francis Knight Relays on Friday. St. John’s was runner-up with 91 points, St. Francis came in third (76½), Perrysburg fourth (74), Bedford fifth (55), Central Catholic sixth (52), Whitmer seventh (51), Northview eighth (50½), Anthony Wayne ninth (39½), Springfield 10th (38), Tiffin Columbian and Ottawa Hills 11th (28), Start 13th (18), Rogers 14th (17½), and Bowsher 15th (16). Howe won the 110-meter hurdles for the Cougars, finishing the race in 14.85. He then came in out front in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.3. For St. John’s, Joseph Taylor won the 400 with a time of 49.3. The Titans had winning relay teams in the 800 and 1,600. Names in relay races were not made available.
