Boys track and field: Southview wins St. Francis Knight Relays

Southview got a pair of victories from Logan Howe in sprints that helped the Cougars take first with 102 points at the St. Francis Knight Relays on Friday.

St. John’s was runner-up with 91 points, St. Francis came in third (76½), Perrysburg fourth (74), Bedford fifth (55), Central Catholic sixth (52), Whitmer seventh (51), Northview eighth (50½), Anthony Wayne ninth (39½), Springfield 10th (38), Tiffin Columbian and Ottawa Hills 11th (28), Start 13th (18), Rogers 14th (17½), and Bowsher 15th (16).

Howe won the 110-meter hurdles for the Cougars, finishing the race in 14.85. He then came in out front in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.3.

For St. John’s, Joseph Taylor won the 400 with a time of 49.3. The Titans had winning relay teams in the 800 and 1,600. Names in relay races were not made available.

St. Francis had some strong showings in distance races as Kale Seymour won the 800 (1:59.53), Ethan Cope the 1,600 (4:17.25), and Sam Arquette the 3,200 (9:33.26). Also for the Knights, Greyson Pollock finished first in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches).

St. Francis had the winning relay team in the 3,200 (8:08.35).

Fourth-place Perrysburg was led by Terry Cooper, Jr., who took the top spot in the 100 (11.5).

Springfield won a pair of field events as Aaron Adams tied for first in the long jump with Central Catholic’s Victor Singleton, both clearing 21-5, and Trenten Dao took first in the pole vault (13-0) for the Blue Devils. Springfield’s Jaiden Johnson came out on top in the 200 (23.38).

Other relay victories went to Central Catholic in the 400 relay (43.10), Bedford in the 440 shuttle hurdle (1:01.46), and Ottawa Hills in the 6,400 relay (18:51.45).

Bowsher’s Pierre Adams finished first in both the shot put (48-8¼) and discus (149-1).
