*** INFORMATION UPDATE - May 10, 2024, 1:45pm*** The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office and Tillamook Police conducted a thorough investigation into a report of a suspicious person that was near South Prairie Elementary School yesterday. An initial report to 911 reported that a gun was involved - and that information was subsequently shared by individuals online. However, the investigation revealed that there was no firearm involved and there was no actual threat to the school or the children at any time. "It appears to have been a misunderstanding, but our law enforcement response will always be to treat it as a credible threat until proven otherwise," said TCSO Detective Martin Zepeda. TCSO increased its presence at the school today in an overabundance of caution and Tillamook School District 9 kept parents appraised of the situation.
