Warriors rally to reach region final
RIDGELY — Easton High’s volleyball team had lost a marathon-like first set and was staring at a 10-0 deficit in the second. “The whole time I was thinking, ‘this could be my last game,’” Warrior setter Heaven Murray said. “‘We got to play harder than we ever could before.’” Whether this was the hardest Easton played all season may be a matter of opinion, but the the third-seeded Warriors played hard enough Friday night to pull out a 26-28, 26-24, 25-17, 25-18 victory over No. 2 seed North Caroline in a Class 2A East Region II semifinal. The Warriors (13-4), who have won eight of nine, including their last six, advance to Wednesday’s region final at unbeaten top seed Kent Island (17-0) at 5 p.m. The two-time defending region champion Bucs defeated Queen Anne’s, 25-16, 25-19, 25-12 in Friday’s other semifinal. “It was incredible,” Murray said of Easton rallying from being down 10-0 in the second set. “Whenever Cam (Webb) went on that serving run I was like, ‘Yes, this is the momentum we need to actual shift and change the game.’” North Caroline (11-4), which split with Easton during the regular season, outlasted the Warriors in the opening set,

Hoyas Vanquish Hornets in Season Opener
The Georgetown University women’s basketball team beat the Delaware State University Hornets 84-47 at home Nov. 2, earning their first win in their first game of the year. The game kicked off the season for Georgetown (1-0), who looked to build on a mediocre showing last year, which ended with a 14-17 record and an eighth-place finish in the Big East Conference. So far, so good for the Hoyas, who took it to Delaware State (0-1) and outscored the Hornets by nearly double. They looked sharp from the 3-point and free-throw lines, and their defense was notably strong. As they play tougher teams this season, Georgetown must improve its field goal percentage.
