STROUDSBURG – Jackson Mitchell could’ve never thrown another pass after his junior year, and he, statistically, would’ve been one of the best quarterbacks in Stroudsburg football history. The senior signal-caller eclipsed 1,000 passing yards for the first time in 2025, finishing the year with 1,567 yards, breaking the previous single-season record held by recent Stroudsburg and District 11 Hall-of-Fame inductee Jake Jakobsen. In 2026, Mitchell made more history as only the fourth Mountie quarterback to throw for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, joining Jakobsen (2014, 2015), Mike Nikorak (2012, 2013) and Al McCormick (1970, 1971). He ended the regular season with 1,962 passing yards. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, he only needs 38 more yards to be the first 2,000-yard passer in Stroudsburg history. Only eight other quarterbacks accomplished the feat in Pocono area history, and it would only be the 10 th such season if Mitchell joined them (East Stroudsburg South’s Rob Moyer did it twice). Mitchell split starting quarterback duties as a freshman and sophomore
