The Local Bite offers comforting American fare in Loudon | Grub Scout
In most cases, I add restaurants to my list when I first hear about them. But often, by the time I actually get around to trying a place out, I’ve long since forgotten how I learned about it in the first place. Such was the case with The Local Bite in Loudon. All I recall is that it came well reviewed, based on my research. That was good enough for me to stick to my original plan to give it a shot. The Grub Spouse accompanied me to Loudon County for dinner one evening last week. We found the business on the south side of town in a small retail plaza. Inside, the atmosphere is typical of what one might find in a mom-and-pop diner: a modest number of tables and chairs in a moderately sized dining room. The trappings weren’t thematic per se, but the setting was aesthetically pleasing enough. The Local Bite’s current menu has been in place since spring and offers a familiar lineup of American fare. For example, starters include cheese curds, jalapeño poppers, onion rings and fried Brussels sprouts. You can also order chicken wings accompanied by any of five different sauces as well as

South Knoxville finally has the local grocery store it's waited years for
After years of setbacks , the long-awaited Old Sevier Market is finally open on Sevier Avenue, answering South Knoxville’s calls for a local grocery store. Knox News stopped in this week to see what products are in stock and to catch up with general manager Claire Taylor, who told Knox News the store is "figuring out the flow and making sure we have what people need to come back." As a small business, Old Sevier Market is able to take recommendations from customers about products they'd like to see in the store and then put in orders to stock them on shelves. The grocery store, which opened Oct. 10 in the same building as Redbud Kitchen and Hi-Wire Brewing, is already building a base of regulars at 906 Sevier Ave. with that neighborhood-focused approach. "That's exactly what we want is people just being able to stop in and get what they need or something that they want," Taylor said. Chris Morton, an owner of nearby Alliance Brewing Company and South Coast Pizza, led the charge on Old Sevier Market and previously told Knox News he was working with multiple partners to follow through on his vision.
