The weather in Knoxville is about to flip from calm to stormy, with the National Weather Service forecasting a series of thunderstorms rolling through the area starting Friday. Today's mostly sunny skies and a high of 80 will soon be overshadowed by potential thunderstorms late Friday afternoon and into the night. Residents can expect a high near 75 with calm winds turning south around 5 mph and an 80% chance of precipitation, bringing new rainfall that could be higher in the event of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service Knoxville.

Knoxville Businesses and Residents Rally Against Proposed Downtown Parking Changes
In a clear message to city leaders, Knoxville businesses and residents have overwhelmingly stated they do not want changes made to the current downtown parking scheme. A survey conducted by the Downtown Merchants Group — a coalition of local business owners — revealed a whopping 97% of 14,800 respondents are strongly against the idea of altering the existing policy that allows free parking during evenings and weekends. The findings were highlighted in a recent WBIR report.
