Fresh off Michelin nod, Raven owners have 3 Knoxville restaurants planned | Exclusive
The trendy restaurant group behind a Maryville steakhouse recently recommended by Michelin has three Knoxville restaurants in the works, from Gay Street to Bearden Hill. Gemini Hospitality, whose Raven Steakhouse & Lounge was recognized alongside other regional restaurants in the Michelin Guide to the American South , plans to bring an upscale Italian steakhouse to downtown Knoxville to mirror the experience at the Maryville hot spot. The steakhouse, a partnership with Knoxville-based Dominion development group, has been coined Anthony's and is scheduled to open inside Lone Tree Pass on Gay Street next year. Raven sits in the heart of downtown Maryville and leans heavily into "indulgence," Gemini co-founder Jimmy Loup told Knox News. The hospitality group wasn't planning to add another fine dining restaurant to its resume until the developers behind Lone Tree Pass stopped in to dine at Raven. "They enjoyed it, called us, we met and then worked out a deal," Loup said. Lone Tree Pass, located on the 200 block of Gay Street, is a $30 million mixed-use development with condos, a coffee shop and brunch spot in the mix. Anthony's will open in the 6,000-square-foot street level space facing Gay Street. A few blocks south of

5 Best Restaurants in Knoxville, Tennessee You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them
Knoxville, Tennessee — a city where the Tennessee River bends through the heart of downtown, where the Smokies rise blue on the horizon, and where every street hums with the laughter of students, the wisdom of old-timers, and the dreams of newcomers drawn by the promise of something soulful. Here, red-brick warehouses lean into the future, murals bloom on stucco, and the scent of barbecue and biscuits drifts through neighborhoods stitched together by memory and hope.

Michelin noticed Maryville. Its restaurant boom was years in the making | Exclusive
The Michelin Guide recently confirmed what many in Maryville have known for years: This small East Tennessee city, roughly 15 miles south of Knoxville, is a dining destination. The guide’s American South Awards recognized Raven Steakhouse and Lounge earlier this month, and The Restaurant at RT Lodge was recommended for the second year in a row . But Maryville's culinary rise shouldn’t come as a surprise. Restaurant owners, chefs and developers have been betting on the city for years, building on a foundation laid by longtime institutions while introducing Maryville's 32,000 residents to ambitious new concepts that once might have seemed more at home in a larger city. For restaurateur Jimmy Loup, the appeal was obvious a few years back as he walked through downtown Maryville in the dead of winter. It felt like snow could fall from the sky and decorate the town at any moment. It reminded him of a Hallmark movie. "Maryville is this idyllic town," Loup told Knox News. "When I was describing it to my wife, I was like, 'You gotta drive out here with me.'" Loup and his business partner, Jim Saunders, got their first taste of Maryville after moving from Texas to Knoxville

Morristown Locals Still Grab A Booth At Jack’s Restaurant Like They Did In 1960
Some towns have a spot where nobody needs a reservation, a reason, or a dress code, just a free hour and a booth. Morristown, Tennessee, has one of those, and it sits in a place most folks would never guess, tucked beside a furniture store on a quiet side lane.

Sip Tea And Enjoy British Tradition At This Elegant Tennessee Hideaway
A tearoom named after a legendary sea monster pours from a list of about 90 teas. That alone made me grin. Who expects a kraken to be this polite?. The menu leans proudly British, with scones, tiny sandwiches, and tiered tea service. Then the names get playful, like Old City Socie-Tea and Marble Ci-tea. I like a place that takes tea seriously without taking itself too seriously.

This Tennessee Grocery Warehouse Sells Bulk Food At Prices That Make Shoppers Look Twice
Tide laundry detergent sold in a five-gallon bucket. That alone tells you this store plays by different rules. The shelves here are really pallets. They hold closeouts, overstocks, and factory seconds that change all the time. One trip might bring premium ice cream. The next might bring a case of...

New restaurant serves tasty array of classic Mexican dishes | Grub Scout
The Grub Spouse’s mother (aka my mother-in-law), who lives in Blount County, told us she’d heard good things about a new Mexican-food restaurant that opened recently on West Broadway (U.S. 411) in Maryville . La Matraca took over the space occupied in recent years by an Irish-style pub. On a recent family visit, The Spouse and I took the MIL out for dinner to check out La Matraca’s south-of-the-border grub. The dining room was hopping when we arrived. Aesthetically, the interior looks somewhat different from the previous tenant thanks to the installation of large black booths, which account for most of the seating options. There’s also seating at the bar on the far side of the room. Both sections of La Matraca seemed to be doing a lively trade that evening. The menu gave us plenty of options to choose from, starting with breakfast items available from 11 a.m. to noon. Most are based around eggs. Midday diners will also find favorably priced lunch specials and combos Mondays through Saturdays. Otherwise, there are multiple sections representing classic Mexican-food categories, including appetizers and dips (nachos, ceviches, etc.), soups and salads, and a grouping called Sabor Autentico Mexicano. There you’ll find items
