STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — State College is losing a fair trade store after six years of business.

Ten Thousand Villages is an art and Thrift store that focused on selling products through fair trade. This meant that most of their art pieces were international.

Low sales and a lack of customers ultimately led the business to close its doors, something that some people are taking hard.

“So some people took it pretty hard, our volunteers. It’s a little bit of a sad time, but we’re proud of what we accomplished and we’re looking forward to hopefully sticking around,” Joel Weidner, Treasurer, said.

The store expects to close at some point in mid-July and will be putting all of the products on sale.
