UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) — Penn State professors and students gathered in the Old Main building to protest what they claim is President Neeli Bendapudi’s inaction with regard to racial issues.

To illustrate their point, each member of the group read an excerpt from a work of their choice. Each reading was related to the struggles that the Black community faces.

Dr. Michael West, a professor at Penn State, said that Bendapudi initially claimed to have a strong policy against racism but has failed to deliver.

“She denounced institutional racism and said she was going to root it out from her own institution,” West said. “However, she has done what appears to be a complete about-face.”

West added that he and others in the group are tired of protesting, but they will not stop until real change happens. Due to this, there will be another protest in the Old Main building Tuesday, April 16, at noon.
