GREENE COUNTY, Mo. – A woman and her dog were rescued from the James River after getting stuck while trying to cross a bridge Tuesday afternoon, May 7.

The Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District said the woman had parked her car southeast of Springfield north of Kinser Bridge on Farm Road 164 on high ground, but the water began to rise.

When the woman noticed the water rapidly rising, she tried to drive away, but her car stalled out.

Firefighters were able to help her and her dog to higher ground.
