    Spirit Lake building total loss after fire

    SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (KCAU) — The building housing a Spirit Lake business is considered a total loss after an early hours fire.

    The Spirit Lake Community Fire Department said in a release that it was called Tuesday around 3:16 a.m. to a structure fire at 1907 18th Street. That is the location of the business, Great Lakes Marine.

    Crews arrived to the scene to find heavy fire coming out of the rear and through the roof of a commercial building.

    Spirit Lake Community Fire Department called for mutual aid from Arnolds Park/Okoboji and Superior to assist.

    After extinguishing the fire, the structure is considered a total loss. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

    Lakes Regional Hospital Ambulance, law enforcement, Dickinson County Emergency
    Manager, gas, and power companies also assisted.
