Individual contracts Legionnaires' disease in Garden City school building
GARDEN CITY, Mich. (FOX 2) - An individual at Garden City Public Schools is being treated for Legionnaires' disease after contracting the bacteria earlier this month. The individual is associated with Burger Baylor School, which caters to individual with autism. Run out of the Garden City school district, officials are now coordinating with the Wayne County Health Department for a safety plan.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - It's a custody battle unfolding over a therapy dog.A Wines Elementary School teacher in Ann Arbor says she adopted a therapy dog for the school. Farmington's Maxfield Training Center to be razed in June for new townhomes
FARMINGTON — The old Maxfield Training Center will be demolished this summer, officially clearing the way for a townhome development that's been years in the making. Robertson Brothers Homes and the City of Farmington finalized the sale of the old school property at 33000 Thomas St. earlier this month. Tim Loughrin, director of land acquisition for Robertson Brothers, said his company expects to demolish the building in late June.

Navy ship named after Oakland County man
Friends and family of a longtime Farmington Hills resident gathered in San Diego in early May for the christening of a U.S. Navy ship named in his honor. The USS Robert E. Simanek bears the name of a former Marine who threw himself on a grenade during the Korean War to protect his fellow servicemen.
Jaycee’s Fourth of July parade returning to downtown Ann Arbor this summer
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Families can expect Ann Arbor’s annual Jaycee’s Fourth of July parade to take place downtown this year, organizers said. The free, yearly event draws thousands of spectators to Tree Town, but was celebrated at the Briarwood Mall in 2023 as a festival due to heavy construction in the downtown area.
