Southwest Michigan city considers dissolving police force due to staffing issues
HARTFORD, MI – A small city in Southwest Michigan is considering dissolving its police force amid ongoing issues with staffing, leadership and turnover. The City of Hartford, which has roughly 2,500 residents in Van Buren County, is weighing “phasing out” its police department and instead contracting police services from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, City Manager Nicol Brown said in a press release Friday, July 26.
Motorcyclist killed in Ann Arbor crash
ANN ARBOR, MI – The motorcyclist who was involved in a serious crash in Ann Arbor on Friday afternoon has been pronounced dead by police. The Ann Arbor Police Department is not releasing the motorcyclist’s name at this time, but said he was a 46-year-old man from Milan.

Passenger killed after being ejected in crash with semi in Northern Michigan
KALKASKA COUNTY, MI – A Northern Michigan man was killed after he was ejected from a vehicle in a crash with a semi-truck on Thursday, July 25. Police responded to the fatal crash at 11:52 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of U.S. 131 and Twin Lake Road in Kalkaska County, according to a news release from the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office.
