Goodlettsville rejects sales tax; Mt. Juliet repeals ‘home rule’

Residents of Goodlettsville were asked if they approved of a half-cent sales tax increase. Voters said no. About 53% of voters on the referendum disagreed with raising the sales tax, which the city board of commissioners had proposed to invest in public safety, pedestrian infrastructure and beautification projects. Fewer than 3,000 people weighed in, and the measure failed by less than 150 votes.

In-N-Out opens Tennessee headquarters as hiring, relocations continue

Three years after announcing its Tennessee expansion, California hamburger chain In-N-Out Burger officially opened its Eastern corporate headquarters in Franklin Oct. 26. The opening marked a milestone for the company's East Coast growth beyond its identity as a West Coast icon. In-N-Out is investing at least $125 million in Tennessee and has already opened five Nashville-area restaurants in the last year with more on the way . The company also won a combined $4.65 million in state incentives and Williamson County tax breaks. In-N-Out's Tennessee offices support local warehouse, fast-growing restaurant expansion "The 90,255-square-foot facility shares a campus with our Franklin restaurant and will work alongside our distribution warehouse in Lebanon to support our growing restaurant operations throughout the region," In-N-Out Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick wrote in a statement. "We will start with a significant family of office Associates at opening, then with ongoing hiring and relocations, we’ll grow toward our eventual fully staffed target." The office will be home to about 277 employees and CEO Lynsi Snyder, granddaughter of company founders Harry and Esther Snyder. Williamson County is booming. Its housing market is standing out, too

Nashville takes up most of the oxygen when the conversation turns to growth in the Volunteer State. From the new Titans stadium and East Bank redevelopment to corporate investments and new restaurants, there is no shortage of projects keeping Tennessee’s capital in the spotlight. But the growth story extends well beyond Nashville. Surrounding counties continue to attract residents and investment, and Williamson County offers a clear example of how that growth is shaping both communities and the housing market. U.S. Census Bureau figures show Williamson County added more than 24,000 residents between 2020 and 2025. That growth brings demand for housing, businesses and places where people can gather. In Franklin, several projects illustrate how developers are responding while creating new reasons for people to visit and call the area home. The Factory at Franklin is one example. The historic former stove factory, now home to entertainment, restaurants and shopping, has plans for a 120-room boutique hotel as part of its expansion. In Cool Springs, Canteen on Carothers is bringing additional dining and retail options to the area, with Char among its announced restaurants. The development is designed around indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, adding another destination for residents and visitors.
