Cambridge's Incha signs to play football at Northern Michigan University
CAMBRIDGE — Sam Incha, the type of three-sport athlete becoming somewhat obsolete these days in the world of sport specialization, will be suiting up to play college football this fall. Incha, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive tackle from Cambridge High School, recently signed with Northern Michigan University, an NCAA Division II school. “Playing college football has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid watching the Badgers,” Incha said. “Around the summer between my sophomore and junior years, my high school coach Rob Nelles and I talked about how big of an impact I could make on the offensive line and that playing at the next level was within reach. “Continuing to play football, something I love, is awesome.” The Wildcats have new leadership for this upcoming season as Matt Janus was hired in January after previous coach Shane Richardson was placed on administrative leave and resigned midway through a 3-8 campaign in 2025. “My recruitment was a little weird,” Incha said. “When the old coach (Richardson) resigned, I couldn’t do a whole lot of talking to them once the season was over. When coach Janus came in, I sent him an email to connect. “He

Last year’s team finished with a 5-27-2 record, making this season’s team statistically worse than last season’s team. Before everyone starts freaking out and demanding “Fire Shyiak,” it’s only year two and the first true year of the Wildcat rebuild. My UP Sports Play of the Week: Behnke's incredible effort for the out
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) - Spring season is upon us in high school athletics. This week's top play took place at the annual Spring Swing Softball Tournament held at the Superior Dome in Marquette. Gwinn went head to head with Stephenson under the bright lights of the dome. In the top of the sixth inning, Stephenson catcher Lily Behnke made an incredible play when a ball was tapped fair and carried behind home plate. The ball rolled underneath the umpire's legs. Behnke, determined to make a play, decided her best chance at an out was the crawl underneath the ump's legs where she was able to grab the ball, turn and fire a rocket to first base for the out. Congratulations, Lily on earning the My UP Sports x Peninsula Federal Credit Union Play of the Week! COPYRIGHT 2026 BY MY UP NOW – WBUP/WJMN. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
