Police: Troy man had over 1,000 bags of heroin
A 50-year-old Troy man is accused of possessing over 1,000 bags of heroin as well as cocaine and fentanyl. Troy Police searched Eric D. Fox’s car in the area of 6th Avenue and Fulton Street on Tuesday evening. Besides heroin, he allegedly had several hundred grams of crack and powder cocaine and hundreds of pills containing fentanyl.

Man in Colonie accused of crashing into patrol car while trying to flee police
Albany County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who tried to run from them, and then crashed his motorcycle into a patrol car, they said. Deputies patrolling in Colonie tried to pull over Matthew Merrill, 30, for traffic violations around 12:30 Saturday afternoon. However, he didn’t stop, they said.
Girl missing from North Carolina found in North Greenbush
A missing girl who ran away in North Carolina was found in North Greenbush. A license plate reader tipped off North Greenbush Police on Thursday as the car traveled through town. Police quickly found the car at a nearby restaurant. Both people were stopped shortly after they left the building.

Bear raids bird feeder in Wilton
A hungry bear came a little too close for comfort for a woman in Wilton Friday morning. It happened on Route 50 a couple miles north of Wilton Mall. An employee of April Fresh Cleaning happened to look out the window and see the animal looking for breakfast. The bear was about 4 to 4 ½ feet tall, they said. It didn’t stick around long.
Albany settles case with city man paralyzed in police shooting in 2018 for $3 million
The city of Albany and a man who was partially paralyzed after being shot by a city police officer have reached an agreement to end a pending civil rights case. 24-year old Ellazar Williams is paralyzed from the chest down after being shot by a detective during a foot chase in August 2018. An internal police investigation and an Albany County Grand Jury cleared Jay Olsen of any criminal wrongdoing.
