LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Rangers have recovered the body of a 58-year-old man who apparently tried to go down the Colorado River with his dog on a wooden raft in April.

Thomas L. Robison of Santa Fe, New Mexico, was reported missing after his abandoned vehicle was found on April 21 at Lee’s Ferry, below Glen Canyon Dam in northern Arizona.

On Friday, May 10, rangers from Grand Canyon National Park responded to reports of a body found “near river mile 6” downstream from the dam. “Initial information indicates the body is that of missing person Thomas L. Robison,” according to a National Park Service (NPS) news release on Monday.

Photos of Thomas L. Robison, his wooden raft and his dog were released when he was reported missing in April by the National Park Service.

Rangers transferred the body to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, which will confirm the identification.

When Robison was reported missing , NPS officials believed Robison had tried to float down the river with his dog, an 11-year-old Welsh Corgi. No additional information is available at this time, according to officials.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
