ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - KMOX has taken the raw data from the St. Louis Police Department's NIBRS reports and has found through the first four months of 2024, St. Louis's violent crime rate is down across all but one category: murders.

There have been 53 murders through the first four months of 2024, compared to 48 in 2023. April and January saw the most murders through this year with 14 and 19, respectively.

Shootings and murders were a focus of the violence reduction seminar local leaders across the region participated in this fall. KMOX looked at that number and found even with the increase in murders, shootings and murders combined are down from 2023.
