School board to decide fate of Woodmore Middle School principal
WOODVILLE, Ohio — Supporters of embattled Woodmore Middle School principal Kevin Ball are planning to turn out at Thursday’s school board meeting to urge the board to renew the principal’s contract. Thursday’s monthly board meeting starts at 6 p.m. and has been moved from the high school media center to the gym shared by the elementary and middle schools in anticipation of a larger audience. The meeting’s agenda includes an item from the superintendent recommending that Mr. Ball’s contract not be renewed. Mr. Ball was told in April that his contract, which expires July 31, was not going to be renewed. While officials have not publicly discussed the reason, a review of the principal’s personnel file revealed a recurring pattern of concerns about discipline, or the lack thereof, in the middle school. It culminated in February, when a student was expelled for multiple instances of racial bullying.
